Silchester C of E Primary School was inspected 2-3rd December 2009 and received a very good OFSTED with an overall grade 2. I had heard a few poor things about the school, but reading through the report it reads as if these issues have been recognised and addressed. The report can be downloaded from the school’s website here.

Rachel, thanks for posting the link. I’m starting to think seriously about schools for my little man and the Bramley Ofsted has really made me question if I want to send my son there. Silchester has some excellent comments from Ofsted, particularly around leadership and management which I feel are the foundations to success. These factors were rated as ‘inadequate’ at Bramley.
I was actually looking at the Bramley School website last night and was disappointed to read the latest newsletter where their first response to the Ofsted report was a comment about the first aiders now having additional words printed on their certificates. While I appreciate they may have felt that particular Ofsted criticism was unfair, as a prospective parent I would like to see the school post a full response to all the factors raised in the report along with action plans of how they plan to improve them. I do plan on writing to school to request this, but I’m disappointed that it hasn’t automatically happened. One of the reasons we moved to Bramley was because we thought that it had a good school – maybe we will have to move again!
